Our Exceptional
Granny Flats Process

Knowing where to start your Granny Flat journey can be confusing and intimidating. Vivo Granny Flats guides you from your very first step — from site visits and assessment to approval and construction.

Getting Started 1

Granny Flat Assessment

Planning certificate lies atop a detailed cost breakdown, ensuring every granny flat quote is based on accurate site-specific data.

Does your property meet the minimum requirements for Granny Flat development? We can easily answer that question by performing a desktop assessment.

We will check your lot size, width, setbacks, and surrounding environment (laneways, reserves, etc.).

If you have access to the following documents, we can investigate further to confirm compliance and to determine whether there are any land issues that may add costs to the project.

  • 10.7 Certificate.
  • Title search.
  • Sewer diagram.

Getting Started With Granny Flats FAQs

How Do I Know if My Property Is Suitable for a Granny Flat?

Either call us to discuss your site or fill out the contact form — ensure you give us your address! We will rapidly search for your property and create a speedy desktop assessment. This will only take around ten minutes!

Is It Essential for Me To Be at Home While You Complete a Site Inspection?

Not at all! A Granny Flat site inspection only takes around 20 minutes. All we need is access to the sides, backyard, and front of your home. We don’t need to go inside your premises!

If My Property Isn't Suitable for a Granny Flat, Is There Anything I Can Do?

Yes! If our assessment indicates that your property isn’t suitable — and therefore ineligible for a Complying Development Approval Certificate — we can instead pursue development through a traditional DA process.

In Later Years, May I Subdivide My Granny Flat and Sell It?

Unfortunately not! Your Granny Flat, under the development approval process, has to remain a single title. You cannot break it down into separate properties and sell them as individual units.
